Motorized Screens vs Fixed Screens What Homeowners Should Know

This week we had a lot of conversations with homeowners trying to decide between motorized screens and fixed screens. Both options are great, but they serve different purposes depending on how the space is used.
Fixed screens are the traditional option. They are always in place, require very little maintenance, and are the most cost effective way to enclose a patio or pool area. If your main goal is keeping bugs out and creating a clean outdoor space, fixed screens get the job done.
Motorized screens are more about flexibility and lifestyle. With the push of a button, the screens can open or close depending on the weather or how you want to use the space. This is perfect for covered patios or lanais where homeowners want the option of an open air feel without committing to a fully enclosed structure.
One project this week had a great combination of both. We installed fixed screens on the sides for structure and protection, and motorized screens across the rear openings facing the pool. This gave the homeowner full control over airflow, privacy, and visibility.
The biggest difference comes down to how you plan to use your space. If you want something simple and permanent, fixed screens are the way to go. If you want versatility and a more high end feel, motorized screens are a great upgrade.
At the end of the day, both options can be built clean, strong, and made to last in South Florida conditions. It just depends on what fits your lifestyle best.
