Summer Is the Busiest Time for Patio Re-Screening

Summer is when we see the biggest spike in patio re-screening calls, and it makes sense. Between strong sun, afternoon storms, and kids being home more often, screens take a beating this time of year.

Most homeowners start noticing small tears or loose panels right around the beginning of summer. What starts as a tiny hole quickly turns into a bigger problem once wind and rain get involved. We always tell people that summer is the perfect time to re-screen because it keeps bugs out, keeps debris out of the pool, and makes the backyard enjoyable again.

Another reason summer is so busy for re-screening is simple wear and tear. In South Florida, screen mesh is constantly exposed to UV rays, humidity, and sudden storms. Over time, the material weakens and becomes brittle. When that happens, even a light push or strong gust of wind can cause the screen to rip.

This week we worked on several patios where the homeowners waited until the first big storm of the season before calling us. By then, multiple panels were damaged. The good news is that a full re-screen brings the enclosure back to life and makes the entire patio feel new again.

If your patio screen is starting to look faded, loose, or torn, summer is a smart time to take care of it before hurricane season ramps up. Staying ahead of the problem usually saves money and avoids emergency repairs later.
